The OUSD Student Wellness Policy focuses on nutrition and physical education.
Foods and beverages sold to students through the district’s child nutrition program, student stores, vending machines and fundraisers meet or exceed state and federal nutrition standards. Nutrition education is provided as a part of the district’s health education program.

Free/Reduced Meal Online Application
Interdistrict Transfer Requests for 2015-16 School Year
Requests to transfer students to schools located inside or outside the OUSD zoned boundaries will be accepted beginning January 5, 2015. Interdistrict application forms are available at the OUSD Education Support Services Office, 2080 Mission Ave. The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Measles Information for Parents
The San Diego County Office of Health and Human Services has verified several reported cases of measles throughout the county. Please know that NO cases of this highly contagious viral infection have been reported in the Oceanside Unified School District.
Click Measles Information to learn more about what you can to help prevent the spread of this condition, and what to do should you suspect your child or some other person in your family or household may have symptoms of measles. In the event of any reported cases in our district, you will be informed. Visit Centers for Disease Control for further information.
School of Choice Application Process for 2015-16 Begins January 5
Parents looking to move a child from one OUSD school site to another for the 2015-16 school year can begin applying for the district’s School of Choice (SOC) option beginning January 5, 2015. The deadline to file the application is Tuesday, March 31 at 3:30 p.m.

ParentLink App Available for OUSD Parents
A new ParentLink App for smart phones is now available to OUSD parents. The App aims to provide and improve all avenues of district and student communication and information for parents. Watch the video below.
ParentLink’s easy-to-use App provides emergency messaging, custom messages and language translation. Parents can now get OUSD information when they need it.
OUSD Parents using the district’s Aeries portal will be receiving an e-mail with instructions on how to download the App. For more information, please see the district website at http://www.oside.us/parentlink.

Kids First Initiative and the 8 Keys of Excellence
The OUSD Kids First initiative is off and running. Click Kids First to view the 8 Keys of Excellence, watch student videos and to learn more about this life-changing project and how you can get involved as a partner with the district.
Promoting Achievement and Student Success (PASS Program)
The PASS AmeriCorps Mentor meets with referred students individually and in small groups to build a relationship to connect students to academic improvement in core subjects, attendance and behavior and to develop an individual goal plan. Students work to track their improvement, develop as positive leaders in their school and community through comprehensive character and skill development as outlined in our program.
The PASS AmeriCorps program also provides school and community gang and crime prevention education for students, school staff and parents. Parents are notified and must complete a PASS AmeriCorps Enrollment form for their child to participate in the program. The PASS AmeriCorps Mentors have some contact with parents to encourage involvement in their child’s education.For more information you may contact us at:

OUSD Policy on Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination
The local educational agency (LEA) adopted a policy that prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Online Meal Registration
Parents can register their children online for the 2014-15 OUSD school lunch and breakfast programs. The national program provides meals at a reduced cost; eligible students with an approved free or reduced status may receive meals at no cost. Click Online Meal Registration to get started.

California is one of 45 states nationwide to adopt the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English/Language Arts and mathematics. This shift in teaching has been characterized by some as “the most significant change to classroom instruction since 1998,” when California first adopted its own academic standards.
